William J. Bourgery, 79, of 73 Crocker Ave., Franklin, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the UMASS Medical Center in Worcester. He was the husband of Eileen D. (Bussaglia) Bourgery.
Born in Blackstone, November 29, 1927, a son of the late Jules and Bertha (Mungeon) Bourgery, he was raised and educated in Blackstone.
Mr. Bourgery was a retired truck driver for the Town of Franklin DPW. He also formerly worked as a truck driver for the McGill Box Co. in Plainville.
During the Korean conflict, he served in the US Army. He attained the rank of corporal, and received the Korean Service Medal, The Army Occupation Medal (Japan), the United Nations Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens, the American Assoc. of Retired Persons, and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 48 years is his twin sister Loretta Lemelin of Linwood, and another sister Pauline L'Esperence of Orange, FL, and several generational nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Raymond Bourgery, Yvonne Bourgery, Celia Leach, and Helen Nowicki.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Monday at 8:15 AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. www.franklinfuneral.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary's at 9:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours are Sunday 2 – 5 PM.
