Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Valerie Somers (McLean), 87, who passed away in her daughter's home in Bellingham, MA on Tuesday, March 11th 2025. She was formerly from Millis where she lived for most of her life.

She was a beloved mother of six, Mark Somers and his wife Jill of Wrentham, Michael Somers and his wife Linda of Woonsocket, RI, predeceased by her son Robert in 2009, Maureen Martins of Bellingham, Barbara Grinnell of Uxbridge, and Diane Baker and her husband Gary of Bellingham. She was the grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 11.

Valerie was the oldest of four children. She leaves behind her brother James McLean and his wife Patricia of New Hampshire, predeceased by her brother Robert McLean of Wareham, MA, and her brother Daniel McLean from California.

Valerie was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Robert H. Somers who passed away in 2005 and her brother Robert McLean who passed away in 2021.

She was employed by the state of Massachusetts at Medfield State Hospital where she was an attendant nurse for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, shopping and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Thursday, March 20th from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon at Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, MA 02038. Burial services will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
