Obituary

Sophie A. (Marszalkowski) Olenski 90, of Blackstone, died peacefully, Tuesday February 12, 2019 at Bethany Healthcare Center in Framingham, following a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Chester Olenski, who died in 1999.

Born May 19, 1928, in Cumberland, Rhode Island a daughter of the late Adam and Agnes (Kulick) Marszalkowski, she was a former resident of Cumberland and Arizona before settling in Blackstone.


She was raised and educated in Cumberland and worked at Plainville Stock.


Sophie enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, polish dancing, and sewing.


She is survived by a son, Frederick Gremza and his wife Janice of Blackstone, a granddaughter, Caryn D'Ascenzo and her husband Mario of Blackstone. Also surviving is her cherished great grandson, Mario D'Ascenzo, Jr., her brothers, Walter, Frank, Louis, and Stephen Marszalkowski.


She was the mother of the late Cynthia A. Gremza and the sister of the late Betty Boucher, Adam, Stanley, Peter, Michael, Joseph and Theodore Marszalkowski.


Her funeral service and interment at Wrentham Centre Cemetery will be held privately.
