Robert “Bob” John Piana, 68, of Franklin, Massachusetts passed away on May 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born on February 6, 1958, in Summit, New Jersey to Robert and Gladys Piana. He was a graduate of Summit High School and graduated from Kutztown University with a B.S. in Business Administration. He worked as a Business and Systems Analyst for various financial institutions over his career.
Bob was a gentle soul and a thoughtful listener who made everyone feel as though they were the only person in the room when speaking with him. He was kind, welcoming, deeply considerate, and always had a smile and a twinkle in his eyes.
Bob met his cherished wife of nearly 40 years, Lisa Piana (née Mikush) in college and enjoyed their earlier years together working in New York City and hanging out on weekends at the Jersey Shore. They enjoyed sailing on their tiny sailboat and driving around in Bob’s Datsun 280Z sports car. Bob married Lisa in 1986 and they moved to Massachusetts.
Family was at the center of Bob’s life. Bob and Lisa resided in Franklin for over 30 years where they raised their daughter Melissa and son Cameron. Bob’s passion was his family and he was happiest when he was spending time with his wife, children, and most recently his new grandson Luke.
In his early years, Bob was an avid golfer, competing at the collegiate level. More recently, he enjoyed biking, gardening, and spending time on Cape Cod. He was deeply passionate about music, attending many concerts and was a wealth of knowledge about music history and different genres. He enjoyed reading and visiting museums and was a lifelong learner with a deep knowledge of sports, art, and American history. Bob was the guy you always wanted on your trivia team. He had an amazing memory of facts about almost every subject and was happy to share his knowledge. As a huge basketball fan, Bob was always cheering on Duke Basketball and the Celtics.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Piana (née Mikush); his loving children, Melissa DeBaun (née Piana) (Andrew DeBaun) and Cameron Piana; his cherished grandchild, Luke DeBaun; his brother-in-law Michael Mikush and wife Diane and sister-in-law, Karen Luft (née Mikush); and his nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladys Piana.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, Massachusetts.
