Obituary

Richard (Ricky) J. Melanson Jr., age 38, a former resident of Franklin and Blackstone, passed away suddenly on August 30, 2025. Beloved son of Richard Sr., and Kathleen S. (Stoughton) Melanson of Blackstone, MA. Brother of Christopher G. Melanson and wife Kelly Noonan of Franklin, MA and Emily K. Melanson of Jeuett City, CT. Cherished uncle of Henry J. and Eloise G. Melanson of Franklin, MA.

Predeceased by his maternal grandfather Kenneth R. Stoughton and paternal grandfather Francis J. Melanson as well as his uncle Nick Bartzokis. He leaves his maternal grandmother, Rita Stoughton and paternal grandmother, Janet Melanson. Survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ricky attended Blackstone Valley Tech for auto mechanics. He worked many years as a roofer for several local companies as well as with his dad in the family remodeling business.

Ricky was kind and generous. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his many friends. He followed all the local sports teams as well as Nascar, especially #29, Kevin Harvick.

Ricky will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 8, at 11 AM in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square Franklin.

There will be a private visitation from 9AM to 10:30AM at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home.
