Richard A. Correia

Richard A. “Rick” Correia Sr., 76, of Brewster, formerly of Attleboro, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl A. (Laviolette) Correia.

Born and raised in Attleboro, Rick was the son of the late Joseph and Gloria (Wilbur) Correia. He graduated from Attleboro High School and went on to build a successful career in the electrical trade and public service.

Rick began his professional journey as an apprentice at Texas Instruments before working for Holander Electric. He later co-owned National Electric and subsequently served the Attleboro School Department while also operating as an independent electrical contractor through his own business, Correia Electric. Throughout his career, Rick was known for his strong work ethic, skilled craftsmanship, and commitment to those he served. In addition to his professional work, Rick enjoyed teaching electrical code through evening adult education classes at Attleboro High School, where he mentored and encouraged others pursuing knowledge in the field. Dedicated to his community, Rick also served the City of Attleboro as a member and chair of the School Committee and the Attleboro Redevelopment Authority.

Rick enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including landscaping, listening to music, woodworking, cooking, and playing the guitar. Whether tending to a project, preparing a meal, or enjoying a favorite song, he found joy in life's simple pleasures and the time spent with those he loved.

In addition to his cherished wife, Cheryl, Rick leaves behind his son, Richard A. Correia Jr. and his wife, Sherry, of New Hampshire; his daughter, Stacey L. Mello and her husband, Chris, of Seekonk and Florida; five grandchildren, Joseph, Cameron, and Justin Correia, and Ashley and Austin Wellman; and two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Kace Correia and his beloved golden doodle “Buddy”.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, July 21, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin.

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 22, at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

A private burial will be in Brewster Memorial Cemetery in Brewster.
