Obituary

Reginald E. "Reggie" DeBaggis 84, of Silver Lake, New Hampshire and a former longtime resident of Franklin, died Saturday April 12, 2008 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in North Conway, New Hampshire following a long illness. He was the husband of Maureen (Robinson) DeBaggis.
Born in Franklin, May 12, 1923 a son of the late Elenterio and Josephine (D'Loia)
DeBaggis, he was raised and educated in Franklin and had lived in New Hampshire since 1974.
For more than 23 years until his retirement, Mr. DeBaggis owned and operated the MRD Copy Center in North Conway.
He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War 11. He attained the rank of Tec/5 and was awarded the European Air Medal, the Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with 4 Service Stars, the World War 11 Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in October 1945.
Mr. DeBaggis was very active in community affairs. He obtained his pilots license and became Director of Cadets for the Massachusetts Civil Air Patrol. He also flew many search and recovery missions. He was an umpire and chief for Franklin and North Conway softball leagues. He was also a past director of the North Amateur Softball Association. He was a past Exulted Ruler of the North Conway Lodge of Elks and was past state president and a past district deputy for the New Hampshire BPOE. He served on the Selective Service Board for Northern New Hampshire and was a past commander of Post #95 American Legion and a past service officer of the Bartlett New Hampshire VFW. He was a volunteer for 10 years of the Volvo Tennis Tournament and was the Grand Marshal for the Mud Football parade in North Conway.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, a daughter Dianne R. Turner of Ocala, Florida, 2 sisters Yolanda Sciolto of Franklin, and Albina Lopes of Lakeland, Florida and two grandsons Michael and Scott Mohla and five great grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late William DeBaggis and Eleanor DelBene, and was the father of the late Shirley, Donald, Margaret, Joan and Regina DeBaggis who perished in a home fire in Franklin in December 1954.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Wednesday at 1:00PM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. www.franklinfuneral.com. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery, Franklin.
