"Boppo" Parette

Ralph J. "Boppo" Parette 88, of Franklin, died Thursday January 8, 2009 at St. Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville, following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Mary (DiPietro) Parette, who died in 1973 and the late Gloria M. (Ober) Scappaticci Parette who died in 2002.
Born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania May 8, 1920, he was raised and educated in Pennsylvania, and lived in Franklin since the early 1950's. Mr. Parette was a self employed building contractor.
He served in the United States Army in World War 11. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the American Theater Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, the World War 11 Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in December 1945.
He was an avid sports fan, and formerly owned race horses. He enjoyed flea markets and was a communicant of St. Brendan's Church in Bellingham.
He is survived by a son Ralph J. Parette Jr. of Falmouth, two daughters Mary Parenteau of Douglas and Pamela Fernberg of Fairfield, Connecticut, a sister Mary Smiegocki of New Jersey, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Patricia Reihl.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with Military Honors on Saturday January 10, 2009 at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.oterifuneralhome.com) with a funeral Mass in St. Brendan's Church 382 Hartford Ave Bellingham, at 10AM.
Interment will follow in the family lot at St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
