Obituary

Rachael A. Mitchell, 79, of Franklin, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Milford Regional Medical Center.
Born in Boston, Sept. 24, 1929, a daughter of the late Arthur E. and Helen A. (Hearring) Mitchell, she formerly lived in the Hyde Park section of Boston, and resided in Franklin since 1978.
She was raised and educated in Maine, and until her retirement, as a supervisor, worked at Wrentham State School for more than 22 years.
Rachael loved to read, enjoyed swimming, golf, travel and animals. She was especially proud of her maternal German heritage. She will be remembered as a kind, generous and giving person. She was full of life, and had a wonderful sense of humor.

She is survived by a niece, Christine Bucknall of Prather, Calif., many close friends and associates, and her beloved cat "Callie." Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Stacey Mitchell of Holyoke. She is the sister of the late Mary Beatrice Sullivan of Taunton and Arthur Mitchell of Holyoke.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Friday at 11 a.m., in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., www.franklinfuneral.com.
Interment will follow in Union Street Cemetery.
A visitation period will be held Friday, from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory sent to Friends of Wrentham, P.O. Box 144, Wrentham, MA 02093, would be appreciated.
