Michael F. "Mike" Connell

Michael F. Connell of Franklin, MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 27, 2026 after a long term illness. 

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Jeanne, their two children Gregory and Emily Connell and brothers Neil, Paul and Jim.

Michael “Mike” was a man who could fix just about anything and never stopped learning how to do more. He enjoyed the outdoors, music, history, fishing and collecting tools of every kind. One of his favorite places was Sebago Lake in Maine, where he spent every summer as a child. The memories he made there always remained special to him throughout his life and he loved to share it with others. 

In his free time, Mike could most often be found in his garage, tinkering, repairing, and working on his latest project. He was everyone’s handyman. An HVAC mechanic by trade, he mastered many other trades throughout his life, including being an EMT, a certified arborist, and an auto mechanic. If he didn’t know how to fix something right away, he would research it until he figured it out. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and share his wealth of knowledge and skills with others.

His garage was more than just a place to work—it was a gathering place where family and friends came together for good food, conversation, music, and plenty of laughter. Mike loved to cook and was especially known for his famous Saturday-night chicken wings cooked on the grill. His legendary garage parties created memories that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to be part of them.

He had a special passion for collecting railroad lanterns and took great pride in his collection. He often gave lanterns as gifts to the people he loved and considered special, making each one a meaningful reminder of his generosity and thoughtfulness.

Mike will be remembered for his incredible ability to fix things, his curiosity and passion for continuous learning, and most of all, for the way he brought people together. His stories, his knowledge and his helping hands will be deeply missed.
