Kathleen M. Cummings

Kathleen M. Cummings (Slade), 64, of Blackstone, Massachusetts, and formerly of Franklin, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathleen was a loving wife to her husband, Donald Cummings. She was a devoted mother to Shannon Frias and her husband Matthew of Ashland, Daniel Tracy of Blackstone, Ashley Chipman and her husband Robert of Blackstone, and Kelly Bellan and her husband Ryan of Bellingham. She was also a loving stepmother to Ty Cummings of Blackstone, Brandon Cummings of Woonsocket, and Cassandra Cummings of Rogersville, Alabama. She leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Slade; her father, William Slade; and her brother, William Slade Jr. She is survived by her siblings, John Slade, David Slade, and Steven Slade.

Kathleen was a strong and courageous woman who fought a long and difficult battle with cancer. She was a true fighter, facing every challenge with strength and determination. Through it all, her greatest priority remained the people she loved. Even during her illness, Kathleen continued to be present for her family, always finding ways to give her time, her love, and her support. She would gladly offer to babysit her grandchildren whenever she could, because being surrounded by her family was where she was the happiest. She treasured every moment spent with them and leaves behind countless memories that will be cherished forever.

Kathleen also had a deep compassion for others. She was an active member of her community and dedicated time to helping individuals and families struggling with addiction. Her willingness to help others was a reflection of the kindness and strength she carried throughout her life.

Kathleen will be remembered for her strength, her fighting spirit, her compassion for others, and most of all, the immense love she had for her family. She was deeply loved, and her presence will be profoundly missed. Though her battle has ended, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family forever.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St.

A private burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Franklin, Massachusetts.
