Judith F. (Haskell) Sawyer, peacefully passed on Saturday, April 18, 2026 after a few months of illness. She was fondly and affectionately known as Judy, Mom and Gramma to her family and friends.
Judy was born in Boston on November 6, 1937, graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School in 1955. Deciding that service to her fellows in humanity was her calling, she became a nurse attending Newton-Wellesley Hospital nursing school in the fall of 1955. In 1956, Judy married Jack H Sawyer, a US Navy submariner. After graduating from nursing school, earning her designation as a Registered Nurse in 1958, she began her career at Newton-Wellesley Hospital while residing in Framingham MA.
Judy and Jack had 2 sons, Mark in 1960 and Scott in 1962. They moved to Franklin from Framingham to raise their family in 1962. In 1968, Jack and Judy divorced, Judy stayed in Franklin with their 2 sons. She began her life's work as a Red Cross blood mobile Nurse supervisor in 1972, retiring in 2000.
Judy was the best friend, mom and grandmother anyone could have. She spared no effort to make life happier and more comfortable for anyone she touched with her generous heart.
She is survived by son Mark and his partner, Dorothy Metcalf, son Scott of Templeton Ma; grandchildren, Jake and Madeline of Franklin Ma. All of her family were her pride and joy. She spared nothing to help and foster their success at anything they wanted to attempt in their lives.
She was so proud to see her grandchildren born, attend Franklin MA schools, graduate and become successful as young adults in their chosen careers.
Judy was happy to know she made a difference in others lives with her compassion and care. She also extended the same compassion and care to animals. She had many pets during her long life.
Please join us on Tuesday, May 12, from 4 to 7 pm at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home for a memorial and celebration of Judy's life and accomplishments while she was with us.
