Obituary

Josephine S. (D'Amelio) Brunelli, 98, recently of Ft. Meyers, and lifelong Franklin resident, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Ft. Myers, Friday, August 4th, 2017, following an extended period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Ernest F. Brunelli, who died in 1980.

Born in Franklin, December 18, 1918, a daughter of the late Peter and Angelina (Fontana) D'Amelio, she was raised and educated in Franklin. Josephine retired many years ago from Dean Jr. College in Franklin, where she worked as a nurse assistant.

Her favorite things were family, friends and food, offering many wonderful Italian dishes for everyone. She was known as "Josie" to all of her friends, and "Auntie Jo" to her many nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed her cat, "Stella". Her time in Florida was a good respite with warm weather and creating many new friends with her beautiful smile and fun personality. She will be surely missed.

She was a former member of the Franklin Senior Citizens, and was a lifetime communicant of St. Mary's Church in Franklin.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. Brunelli of Ft. Myers; her sister, Esther Pellegri of Franklin; her brother, Peter D'Amelio and his wife Laura of Franklin; her granddaughter, Brianna Jo Brunelli-Hook of Cotuit, Mass; her daughter in-law, Margaret Brunelli of Wrentham; and many generational nieces and nephews.

She is also the mother of the late Ernest F. "Butch" Brunelli, and the sister of the late Anthony D'Amelio, Michael D'Amelio, and Mary Biuso.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday, August 19th, at 9:15 AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. with a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church SQ. Franklin, at 10:00 AM. Internment will follow in the family lot in St. Mary's parish cemetery.

Calling hours are Friday, August 18th, from 4-8 PM in the funeral home.
