Joseph M. Bogus, 87, of Medway, and a former Hopedale resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Chelsea, March 30, 1920, a son of the late Stanley and Kazimira (Pavloscaka) Bogushefsky, he was raised and educated in Chelsea.
Mr. Bogus was a retired electronics engineer for the Honeywell Corp. He later worked as a custodian at the Clara Macy and Bellingham High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attained the rank of Machinist Mate 3rd class, and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in December 1945.
He was a member of the Attleboro American Legion, the National DAV, and enjoyed deep sea fishing.
He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Bogus of Medway, and Tony Bogus of Woburn; and a daughter, Joanne Bogus. He was a dear friend of the Lampasona family of Franklin, and was the longtime companion of the late Barbara Sannicandro, who died last month.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors on Friday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m., at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home (www.franklinfuneral.com), 33 Cottage St., Franklin. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m., at the Mass. National Cemetery in Bourne. Visitation will be held Friday, from noon to 1 p.m., at the funeral home.
