John Charles "Chick" Quigley

John Charles “Chick” Quigley, of Franklin, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, in Milford, Massachusetts. He was the beloved husband of Sharlene Alice (Cox) Quigley, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

John was the son of the late John A. Quigley and Anne (Caron) Quigley. He grew up in South Chelmsford, Massachusetts, where he spent his early years and began building the strong foundation that would shape theman he became.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves behind his five children:Michelle Sheldrick, Suzanne Creedon and her husband Rob, Melissa Anderson and her husband Donny, JenniDemers, and William Quigley; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Stephen O. Quigley and his companion Nancy King, William A. Quigley, and Karen Gormley and her husband David.

John worked for 23 years as an industrial machinist at Middlesex Paper Tube in Lowell, Massachusetts. A gifted and exceptionally talented machinist, John possessed a remarkable mechanical mind and was truly a genius when it came to understanding how things worked. His creativity and ingenuity led to four United States patents for specialized industrial machinery. 

Beyond his remarkable mechanical abilities, John will be remembered for his quick wit, sharp sense of humor,and his uncanny ability to have a joke ready for almost any situation. He loved his family deeply and generously gave of himself to those around him. John was the kind of person who would always try to help someone in need, regardless of his own circumstances, never hesitating to give what he could.

John's faith in God was a cornerstone of his life. He spent much time studying the Bible and stood firmly in his faith. One of his favorite passages was John 15:5:

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

John had a deep appreciation for music, especially bluegrass, and he loved playing the Dobro. Music was an important part of his life and brought him great joy. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his family, and he especially loved sitting by the Cape Cod Canal, watching the boats go by.

While John accomplished much throughout his life, his proudest accomplishment was always his family. His greatest joy was the people he loved, and the love, wisdom, humor, and generosity he shared with them will remain a lasting part of their lives. 

John’s family will be mourning privately. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
