With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Barry Jr., 66, of Bellingham, MA, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a brief and unexpected battle with cancer.
John was born and raised in Natick, MA, on December 2, 1959. He was the beloved son of the late John Sr. and Joyce Barry. He was a devoted brother to Maureen McKinnon and her husband Art of Bouckville, NY; Michael Barry and his wife Donna of Holliston, MA; Kathy Kneebone and her husband Bob of Swanton, VT; Patricia Greenwood and her husband Dan of Natick, MA; and Peter Barry and his wife Sandi of Buford, GA. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
John was a compassionate and caring man who lived a simple life centered around what mattered most to him—his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Donna Barry, and a loving father to Christopher Barry and Kirsten Faille, who were the center of his world. He was also a deeply cherished “Papa” to his three grandchildren, Lillyan, Tatum, and Matthew Jr., who brought him immense pride, love, and joy.
He found happiness in time spent with family, peaceful days fishing by the lake, scenic car rides, and antiquing—a passion he enjoyed sharing with loved ones. These simple pleasures were where he felt most at home.
John was also deeply dedicated to his work and known for his remarkable skill and craftsmanship. He had a natural talent for repairing and refinishing furniture, along with a true passion for restoring pianos. His expertise and reputation led him to work with distinguished institutions including Boston Symphony Hall, Tanglewood, Boston Ballet, Deathwish Piano, The Piano Mill, Ethan Allen, and Cabot House, as well as countless private clients. His work was built on trust and word of mouth and reflected his patience, precision, and quiet pride.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and unwavering love. Though he will be deeply missed, his presence will forever be felt in the memories he created and the lives he touched.
In addition to his beloved wife, John is survived by his son, Christopher Barry of Franklin, MA, and his daughter, Kirsten Faille and her husband Matthew Faille of North Attleboro, MA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Lillyan Barry, Tatum Faille, and Matthew Faille, Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 30th, from 4 to 7 PM, in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, Franklin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass Friday, May 1st, in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Square, Franklin at 10 AM.
