Obituary

James N. Patete, 90, of Franklin, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Milford Regional Medical Center, following a long period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Flamminia "Fiama" (Capaldo) Patete, who died in 2001.
Born in Franklin, Nov. 6, 1917, a son of the late Domenic and Elvira (DeLucci) Patete, he was a lifelong Franklin resident.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School, and until his retirement, worked as a self-employed plumber and heating contractor in Franklin.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He attained the rank of private first class and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in August 1946.
He was a lifetime communicant of St. Mary Church and was a longtime benefactor of the Friends of Franklin and the Xaverian Missionary Fathers in Holliston. He was also a former member of the Franklin VFW and Sacred Heart Council Knights of Columbus in Franklin.
He is survived by a son, James A. Patete and his wife, Carol, of Franklin; a brother, Rudolph of Franklin; a sister, Mary Anderson of Dennisport; two grandsons, Tony Patete and his wife, Gina, Timothy Patete; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Ava Patete.
He was also the brother of the late Alexander "Sandy" Patete and Eleanor Sharkowicz.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors, Saturday, at 9:15 a.m., from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., www.Franklinfuneral.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours are Friday, 6 to 8 p.m.
