David A. Seyfarth (Westcott) was born on August 30, 1930. He passed away on April 5, 2026 at the age of 95. He led a full life but struggled with a long illness at the end of his life.
He was the son of Sidney B. Westcott and Florence S. Demaray. He was adopted at the age of 6 after the death of his mother. He was adopted by Alfred P. Seyfarth and Johanna Seyfarth.
David married his first wife Emma Eisen in September of 1951. They had five children together; John Seyfarth, Barbara Papaioannou, Joanne Krapf, Lawrence Seyfarth and Lisa Edmunds. He is predeceased by his siblings Lewis, Frank, Percy, Stewart, Grace, John, Paul, Robert and Byron Westcott. He leaves his second wife, Jeanne Seyfarth whom he was married to for 39 years and his children Barbara, Lawrence and Lisa. He also leaves his two sons-in-laws James Krapf ad Jerry Edmunds. He also leaves his grandchildren Jamie Croom, Christopher Krapf, Allison Harten, Aristi Dounia, Bobby Papaioannou, Emilia Papaioannou, David Papaioannou and Julie Edmunds. He also leaves 18 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
David served in the Navy Seabees during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanical engineer and earned his Master’s Degree in business administration from Central Michigan University.
David lived in New Jersey many years with his first wife and children. He later moved to Franklin and became the first personnel director and Veteran’s Agent fo the town of Franklin, where he retired from. David was also an Adjunct Professor at UMASS Dartmouth and he also taught math in the prison system.
David was an active member in the various churches he attended. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan. He remained a Yankees fan even after moving to New England. He was a member of the Society of Descendants of Stukley Westcott and enjoyed attending family reunions. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was proud to be a Dad, Grandpa, Papa and Great-grandpa. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke and to be a “wise guy” to make people smile and laugh. He will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Celebration of Life Monday April 27th, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. at 12PM.
A calling hour will be held from 11AM-12PM prior to the service.
A private family burial will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon.
