Anthony F. "Tony" Velluti 76, died Saturday night May 13, 2006 at his home, surrounded by his family following a two year illness. He was the husband of Dorothy C. (Blanchard) Velluti.
Born in Franklin, February 15, 1930 a son of the late Salvatore and Eda (Santoro) Velluti, he was a lifelong town resident. He was educated in Franklin and was a 1947 graduate of Franklin High School.
Mr. Velluti was a self employed carpenter and building contractor. He continued the business established by his father in 1928. S. Velluti & Son Co., built many of the homes in Franklin today.
During the Korean conflict, he served in the Army for 2 years. He attained the rank of corporal and was honorably discharged in 1955.
He was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens, the American Association of Retired Persons and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He was also a antique car buff, and owned 2 early edition Ford Thunderbird automobiles.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 54 years include 2 sons, Robert F. Velluti of Franklin, Anthony J. Velluti of Hyannis, 2 daughters, Debra A. Eastwood and Sandra J. Velluti of Franklin, a brother Bernard "Nino" Velluti of Franklin and a sister Emma Rabaioli of Franklin. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was the brother of the late Olga Mahan who died last year.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 8:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. with a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 9AM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday May 16, 2006 from 4-8PM.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory sent to: Oncology Dept. at Milford Medical Center 14 Prospect St. Milford, MA 01757 would be appreciated.
