Anita G. (Danello) Lachance, 89, of Franklin, died Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Wellesley, Massachusetts, after battling numerous health issues. To all of her friends and family she was lovingly known as “Babe.” She was 106 days short of her 90th birthday.
She was the wife of the late Raymond F. Lachance, with whom she shared 43 wonderful years before his passing on October 8, 2012. The life they shared was full of exciting adventures to many tropical islands, traveling with friends and family, and later becoming snowbirds in Myrtle Beach. In her travels she would meet people who would impact her life. Auntie Babe enjoyed a good game of Scrabble and, of course, bragging about beating her opponents. She loved playing all forms of card games and video games. She enjoyed trips to the casino, Caribbean cruises, winters in Myrtle Beach, and various trips to Florida. One of Anita’s passions was crocheting blankets, hats, and scarves for her family, friends, veterans, and seniors, and she would always donate to local hospitals for the sick. Anita loved a good Italian meal, but mostly loved the company of those who shared that meal with her.
Born in Milford on October 8, 1936, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Angie (Marcolongo) Danello, she was a lifelong Franklin resident. Educated in Franklin schools, she was a member of the Franklin High School Class of 1954, and an active member of numerous high school clubs and an outstanding student. She was continually active in the planning and organizing of her many high school class reunions.
She worked as an accountant for various local community businesses over a 40-year career. She was always a central figure in the success of each company and developed many long-lasting relationships with co-workers over those years.
Anita especially loved spending time with all of her special friends Rose Turco, Rose Markarian, and her “dialysis warrior son” Mark Thompson. She loved hearing from her beloved cousins Grace “Gracie” Langill and Marilyn Carroccia, who made her so happy.
The family is grateful for the love and support she always received from her neighbors the Gatewoods, Mucciarones, Giannoulis’s, Malcolms, and Circones, who were more like family to Anita. She loved spending time with all of them. She loved the “Lewis Street Gatherings” in her driveway, sitting on folding chairs enjoying stories and jokes.
Surviving Anita are her nephews George A. Danello and his wife Nancy of Franklin; her niece Dee A. Angell of Cumberland, Rhode Island; her nephew Albert R. Lachance and his partner Rosemary Daley of Cumberland, Rhode Island; her sister-in-law Louise Danello of Franklin, wife of the predeceased John L. Danello (Anita’s beloved brother); and her nephews Paul A. Danello and his wife Kerri of Franklin; Gerard A. Lachance and his wife Sheila of Edgewater, New Jersey; her niece Denise A. Soucar and her husband Steven; and her nephew Donald J. Lachance and his wife Joanne of New Market, Maryland; a grandson Kenneth G. Ladd III and his wife Anita of Odessa, Texas; and Catherine DeSalvo’s family. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews too numerous to list.
Auntie Babe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who shared her life. She was kind and generous to everyone, while remaining strong through everything life placed before her. She was always standing by your side when you needed help, or simply someone to listen.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral wake Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 9 AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin, with a funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church; burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Tri-Valley Inc., 10 Mill Street, Dudley, MA 01571. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Tri-Valley for the compassion and amazing care they gave Babe over the years.
