Angela Coscia, 88, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Sabino Coscia, with whom she shared nearly 70 years of marriage. Born on September 27, 1937, in Pratola Serra, Italy, Angela immigrated to the United States with her parents in 1954 at the age of 16. She never forgot the young man she had met the year before, and in 1956, she returned to Italy to marry the love of her life, Sabino. Together, they built a life rooted in love and family, first settling in Hyde Park before moving to Franklin in 1973, where they purchased a farm that eventually became a street surrounded by their children and grandchildren.
Angela dedicated 25 years of her life as a nurse’s aide at Wrentham State Developmental Hospital. She worked nights so she could be home for her children when they returned from school, always placing her family first.
Angela is survived by her loving children, Maryann Valente and her husband Peter; Rose Buckley and her husband David; Lisa Palladino and her husband Richard; and Michael Coscia and his wife Michelle, all of Franklin. She was predeceased by her children, Anthony and Rosetta Coscia.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Christopher; Daniel and his wife Bethany; Sarah; Samantha; Anthony; Daniella; Paul; and Adam; her great-grandson, Daelen; her sister, Nunzia Coscia; and several nieces and a nephew.
Angela had two great passions in life: her family and her garden. She played a special role in helping to raise each of her eight grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Nana.” She found great joy in cooking, feeding, and caring for those she loved, always making holidays and birthdays feel extra special.
A gifted gardener with a true green thumb, Angela took immense pride in her flower beds. She and Sabino spent many summers tending their vegetable garden, growing everything from tomatoes to figs. Together, they jarred sauce to enjoy throughout the year. She never wasted a thing and always found a way to preserve or freeze anything that came from their garden.
Angela found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, especially cooking and gardening—interests she held close even in her final days. Above all, her greatest love was her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and the deep, unconditional love she gave so freely. Her family finds peace in knowing she is reunited with Sabino, celebrating their 70th anniversary together.
