Amy Martha Murphy died at UAB Hospital in Birmingham Alabama, on Friday, May 15, 2026, surrounded by her family, following a fearless battle against cancer with a sparkle only she could create. She was the beloved wife of Alan A. Fujioka.
Born October 21, 1961 in Boston, a daughter of the late George A. and Kathleen H. (Doyle) Murphy, she was a former resident of Dorchester and lived all over the world from Peru to Japan. She was raised in Boston, attended Boston Latin School, and graduated from Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where she received a bachelor's degree in Marine Transportation. She continued her education at the Naval Post Graduate School and received a Master's in Financial Management. Amy was a Lieutenant Commander for the Navy and continued her career as a civilian for the Army.
She was devoted to her family and loved ones. She followed all Boston sports even in Alabama. She enjoyed traveling the world and spending summers in Maine. In her downtime she enjoyed, coffee, shopping, the arts, Taylor Swift, Pilates, and nature but nothing more than the company of her family. Amy was a sweet, generous, caring and witty woman. She had a unique way of making everyone feel special.
In addition to her husband of 13 years, she is survived by her children: John Albert, Rebecca Kathleen, and Michael Jonathan, her siblings: Louise D. Murphy of Weymouth, Geoffrey J. Murphy of New York City, George B. Murphy of Dorchester, Thomas D. Murphy of Bellingham. Reunited with her Twin Zoe Galvin of Franklin and her brother Nicholas P. Murphy of Winthrop.
Also surviving are many grandchildren—Jordan, Lucas, Zach, Collin, Maria Isabella and Oliver—many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and her puppies, Jimothy and Daisy May.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours Wednesday May 27th in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. from 9-10:30AM.
Her funeral Mass will follow at St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square, Franklin at 11AM. To view the Mass stmarysfranklin.org
Burial with military honors will take place at a later date.
